40 cops injured as tribal protest towards Sijimali bauxite mine turns violent in Odisha

Round 50 individuals, together with 40 safety personnel, have been injured in a scuffle with the tribals in Odisha’s Rayagada district over the development of a street to Sijimali bauxite mine on Tuesday, information company PTI reported.

The protesters allegedly attacked police and the district administration officers with stones, swords, axes, and different sharp weapons of their bid to cease street building, the police stated.

The locals within the Kashipur space are towards the Sijimali bauxite mine undertaking ever because the state authorities handed it over to a non-public firm.

The tribals therefore put up a powerful opposition to the street building at Shagabari village below the Kashipur block of Rayagada.

“Of the 40 police personnel injured within the incident, 10 have sustained accidents to the top and have been admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Rayagada. The protestors pelted stones and bricks and attacked the police once they tried to pacify them,” PTI quoted ADG Sanjay Kumar as saying.
