Days after a 26-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide in Maharashtra’s Ambernathpolice investigations have revealed chilling allegations of dowry harassment, fixed CCTV surveillance and social isolation inside her matrimonial house.
Vishakha Tilkar, a commerce graduate from Puneallegedly died by suicide on Tuesday, lower than two months after her organized marriage to Dr Nitin Tilkar on April 30.
As reported by HT earlierher household has accused her husband, a BHMS physician, and in-laws of subjecting her to steady bodily and psychological harassment over dowry calls for and suspicions about her character.
Household alleges demand for 50 grams of gold
In line with the criticism, no dowry was given on the time of the marriage. Nevertheless, Vishakha’s household alleged that quickly after the wedding, her husband and in-laws started pressuring them to offer 50 grams of gold.

Following the incident, Shivaji Nagar Police arrested her husband Dr Nitin Tilkar, mother-in-law Chhaya Tilkar and brother-in-law on prices of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide.
