3 lakh tonnes of LPG in 6 Indian ships stranded in Strait of Hormuz

NEW DELHI: Round 3 lakh tonnes of LPG loaded in six Indian-flagged ships is at the moment stranded within the Strait of Hormuz, the delivery ministry mentioned on Tuesday. A second Indian ship, Nanda Devi, carrying 46,500 tonnes of LPG reached the Vadinar facility of Kandla Port on early Tuesday morning. At current, there are 22 Indian vessels within the strait, together with the six LPG ships, an LNG tanker, 4 vessels with crude oil, one loaded with chemical and merchandise, three container ships, and two bulk carriers. Delivery ministry particular secretary Rajesh Kumar Sinha mentioned unloading from LPG carriers Shivalik and Nanda Devi was beneath manner.The delivery ministry mentioned all central govt-owned ports are carefully monitoring vessel actions and cargo operations and offering essential help, together with further space for storing. VO Chidambaranar Port supplied round 90,000 sqm for transshipment containers.Sinha mentioned perishable containers had been lowered from about 2,000 to round 1,000 at Jawaharlal Nehru Port.He defined that some containers have returned to the home market and a few have sailed to ports corresponding to Salalah in Oman and Khor Fakkan within the UAE.
