NEW DELHI: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor questioned experiences that the Centre might withdraw the International Contribution (Regulation) Modification Invoice, saying the transfer couldn’t be totally trusted.Talking in Nilambur lately, Tharoor stated, “The Centre’s reported withdrawal of the FCRA Modification Invoice can’t be totally trusted. The urgency with which the central authorities is trying to introduce adjustments to the FCRA is obscure. There’s a risk of the invoice being reintroduced when Parliament reconvenes on the sixteenth.”

He added that the opposition will keep vigilant, saying, “The opposition is not going to permit the passage of any modification that creates anxiousness amongst non secular minorities.”His remarks got here a day after opposition MPs staged a protest at Makar Dwar in Parliament, demanding that the International Contribution (Regulation) Modification Invoice, 2026, be withdrawn. They stated the proposed adjustments may create uncertainty and anxiousness amongst NGOs and non secular minority teams.The International Contribution (Regulation) Modification Invoice, 2026, was launched within the Lok Sabha on March 25. Although the Invoice was listed for consideration in Wednesday’s Lok Sabha agenda, it was not taken up for dialogue.It seeks to amend the International Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. The federal government says it goals to boost transparency and accountability in overseas funding obtained in India.
