India on Saturday condemned the current air strikes carried out by Pakistan inside Afghanistan, saying Kabul’s sovereignty and territorial integrity should be revered.
Responding to media queries, Exterior Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated India strongly condemns the strikes that reportedly brought about civilian casualties and broken civilian infrastructure.
“That is yet one more act of aggression by a Pakistani institution that continues to be hostile to the thought of a sovereign Afghanistan,” Jaiswal stated.

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have escalated in current weeks. Pakistan carried out air strikes inside Afghan territory after accusing Kabul of sheltering militants accountable for assaults inside Pakistan.
On February 27, Pakistani forces bombed Kabul and two different Afghan provinces hours after Afghan forces launched a cross-border assault on Pakistani troops. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif described the scenario as an “open warfare” with Afghanistan’s Taliban authorities.
The most recent escalation comes after months of tit-for-tat clashes between the 2 neighbours. Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have traditionally been strained by long-standing distrust and recurring border tensions since 1947.
